Provimi's response to the global coronavirus pandemic

March 25, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

Cargill/Provimi is a leader in the industry with over 150 years of experience leading through the volatility of the world and we aim to bring that experience to you.  This is an unprecedented time impacting every individual, business, and community. As we provide essential ingredients, quality feed for animals (commercial/domestic),  we are taking this responsibility very seriously and strive to keep our operations running.  It is at times like these when communication is invaluable to participate in community effort.

Cargill and its other brands know these uncertainties don’t only affect us, but extend to our animals as well. As the situation with the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we want to reassure you that Cargill is doing everything reasonably possible to minimize business disruptions and ensure safety of our employees, customers, and the communities where we work and live.

We understand that you may have concerns about feed supply and keeping your animals well-fed. We are working with our retail/commercial customers to keep their shelves stocked as expediently as possible. In the meantime, here are some tips to help you:

Take care of yourself and your animals:

Please continue to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada, including practicing personal hygiene and social distancing.  Not much is known about the transmission of COVID-19 between animals and humans, but as a matter of everyday health, it is always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with animals to help avoid transmission of more common illness-causing agents, such as E. coli and Salmonella.  If you do get sick with COVID-19 (either suspected or confirmed, the Agency recommends restricting contact with your animals, just like you would people. When possible, have another member of your household care for your animals while you are sick.  What To Do if You are Sick.

Be prepared:  The Public Health Agency recommends having two weeks of essential supplies on hand, and we ask you to maintain your normal purchasing and ordering patterns for your beloved animals. Many of our amazing retailers have already implemented measures to keep their stores safe and clean.  Several are also getting creative and offering alternative ways to pick up or get your feed delivered.  Please continue to support their businesses during this difficult time if you can.

We are In this Together: As always, please feel free to contact your advisor if you have any concerns and if needed you can also use the service Purina Connect :   [email protected] or phone 1-888-458-6914

Our main priority is the health and safety of our employees, retail customers, and consumers like you who are dedicated to their animals.  Please stay safe and healthy!
